Cows and Calves sell to $4000/unit

Shepherdson and Boyd reported a yarding of 1150 head of cattle on Friday at Toogoolawah. Cattle were sourced from Rockhampton, Eidsvold, Proston, Nanango, Yarraman, Crows Nest, Conondale, Maleny, Coominya, Fernvale, Boonah, Beaudesert, and all local areas.
The steer market was exceptionally strong for all weaner and backgrounder cattle. The feeder bullock market improved this week after easing for the previous two weeks. L & E Golinski sold milk and two tooth Charolais x feeder bullocks for $2660/head. Ian Sainsbury of Ravensbourne sold Droughtmaster x feeder bullocks for $2600/head. Tony Woodrow and Family of Kilcoy sold quality Charbray feeder steers 20mths old for $2600/head. Toberpatrick of Gatton sold Charolais x milk tooth steers for $2540/head. Anthony and Bethany Little of Toogoolawah sold Brangus feeder steers 18-20mths for $2530/head.
T & S Schick from Crows Nest sold Santa x trade feeder steers for $2390/head. Peter Simpson of Commissioners Flat sold a quality pen of Brangus x trade feeder steers for $2300/head. Kevin & Jenny Horrex of Crows Nest sold Angus x backgrounder steers 14-16mths old for $2270/head. Angus steers 12-14mths old sold for $2250/head. Eskdale Cattle sold Angus x weaner steers for $2200/head and Droughtmaster x for $2190/head.

J & T Buchanan sold Brangus backgrounder heifers 12mths old for $2010/head. Graham Scholl sold Charolais x weaner heifers for $1990/head. Cair Conditioning of Buaraba sold a quality pen of Charolais x weaner heifers 6-8mths old for $1900/head. Ian Gilliland of Blackbutt sold Charolais x weaner heifers for $1870/head.
Brisbane Valley Protein of Coominya sold a quality line of 75 Droughtmaster heifers weighing 160-210kgs topping at $1700 & averaging $1648/head. Greg & Linda Nugent sold quality pens of Droughtmaster weaner heifers for $1860 & $1800/head. G & L Hose sold Angus x weaner heifers for $1890/head.
Quality lines of young cows and calves remained strong topping at $4000/unit for young Droughtmaster Cows and 3-5mth old calves at foot. Aged Brangus cows with young Charolais x Calves at foot from Beaudesert sold for $3350/head. J & A Kazakoff sold Droughtmaster x Cows Preg tested in calf for $3200/head. Grieve Bros of Colinton sold 10 year old Charbray cows Pregnancy tested in calf for $2725/head. Rhys & Amy Innes sold Charbray pregnancy tested in calf cows for $2725/head.
