Speckle Park Weaner Steers Sell to $2230/head
Shepherdson & Boyd reported a yarding of 1650 head of cattle for their Toogoolawah Store Sale on the 21st of January 2022. Backgrounder steers and heifers were in strong demand selling fully firm to slightly dearer on the previous sales strong rates. Light weaner steers and heifers sold to a stronger market. Limited heavy export cattle came to hand and sold to an easier market in line with the underlying issues the export processors are currently dealing with at present. A larger yarding of cows and calves were yarded, selling to a dearer market.

The Croner Family of Eidsvold sold Santa x trade feeder steers for $2330/head. Peter Simpson of Commissioners Flat sold Charolais x Backgrounder steers 14mths old for $2320/head & $2250/head. Glen & Carol Beanland of Kingaroy sold Charolais x steers 10-12mths old for $2250/head. Graham McPherson of Kilcoy sold a quality line of Charolais weaner steers straight off the cow for $2290 & $2170/head. G & M Cameron of Beechmont sold a quality line of Santa steers 12-14mths for $2210, $2180 & $2080/head.
Strawberry Fields of Willowbank sold quality Charbray weaner steers for $2160 & $2060/head. Keith Flynn of Nanango sold Charbray weaner steers for $2150/head. The Cahill family of Christmas Creek, Beaudesert sold a top-quality line of Speckle Park weaner steers 8-10mths for $2230/head & Charbray x weaner steers for $2130/head. Brisbane Valley Protein of Coominya sold light weight Droughtmaster weaner steers for $1870, 1840 & $1800/head.
The heifer market remained fully firm with replacement breeders in strong demand. Abercorn Past of Eidsvold sold unjoined Santa heifers 20mths old for $2525, $2425 & $2300/head. J & R Lowther of Jimna sold quality Droughtmaster heifers unjoined for $2400/head. M & S Symes of Thangool sold backgrounder Charolais/Santa x heifers for $2300/head. Graham McPherson of Kilcoy sold Charolais weaner heifers for $2070/head. Apel & Co of Gin Gin sold a magnificent line of 192 EU Charbray heifers 12-16mths to top at $2320/head, to average $2003/head. Daren Blinco of Linville sold backgrounder Charolais x heifers for $2060/head.
Rivermead of Fernvale sold Charolais/Angus x weaner heifers for $2030 & $1960/head. Glen & Carol Beanland of Kingaroy sold Charbray weaner heifers for $2030/head. Matthew Wyvill sold Droughtmaster x weaner heifers for $1920/head. Peter Tobin of Esk sold Angus weaner heifers for $1870/head.
Jilabri Family Trust sold a pen of young Charolais cows with limo x calves at foot for $4100/unit. LA Macginley & GE Williams sold young Charbray cows with Speckle Park calves at foot for $4000/unit. Perrett Traders of Jimna sold Droughtmaster Cows 6-10yrs with Charolais calves 2-6mths at foot for $4000/unit for two pens. Moteham P/L sold quality Brahman/Hereford cows 10-11yrs with young Charolais calves at foot to top at $3650/unit. S&M Mallett sold Droughtmaster x Cows and Calves for $3650/unit.
