Limousin Cows and Calves Sell to $4200/unit

There was a yarding of 2410 head at the Toogoolawah Store Sale on the 8th of April. A quality line up of steers and heifers came to hand with some good quality lines of weaners beginning to hit the market. Prices eased for most descriptions compared to the previous sales record-breaking prices.

Heavy feeder steers eased in price this week due to limited availability of space into feedlots at present. Harvey & Clarke of Mt Beppo sold a quality pen of Charbray feeder bullocks for $2460/head. Terry Clark of Blackbutt sold a quality line of Charbray & Droughtmaster feeder steers 20-24mths with pens topping at $2460, $2420 & $2370/head. Nelson & Judy Hewitt of Mt Mee sold quality pens of milk tooth Charolais x steers 16-20mths old for $2320 & $2380. The Eggleston Family sold a pen of Charolais x steers 20mths old for $2360/head.

Backgrounder & weaner steers eased in line with the current feeder market correction with quality pens still selling very well. L & P Haynes of Linville sold quality Charolais x steers 14-16mths for $2300/head. E & M Cooke of Proston sold Santa x steers 14-16mths for $2230 & $2150/head. R & H Milner of Baralaba sold a quality line of Angus x weaner steers for $2200, $2140 & $2060/head. The O’Brien Family of Gayndah sold quality Charbray & Red Brangus steers 10-12mths old for $2120, $2050 & $2010/head.

Liekefett Hold. of Eskdale Station sold an outstanding pen of Hereford X Santa weaner steers for $2120/head. Goscomb Family Trust of Gympie sold a quality pen of Simbrah weaner steers for $2090/head. Colinton station sold a line of 160 Charbray weaner steers for $2020, $1920, $1910 & $1900. Janelle & Rowan Hansen of Kilcoy sold a quality pen of Charolais x weaner steers 6-8mths old for $1930/head. Joshua Richards of Mt Kilcoy sold a quality pen of Senepol X weaner steers for $1880/head. Baneda Past of Conondale sold a quality pen of Charbray x weaner steers for $1810/head.

The heifer market remained firm for good quality replacement style heifers with the feeder and backgrounder market easing slightly.
